If half your group want a holiday afloat and the rest want a nice comfortable hotel ashore, what do you do? The answer - stay at the Bitter End Yacht Club. You can combine a few days sailing aboard your own Freedom 30 charter yacht, followed by a stay ashore. Any combination is permitted.
The Club, accessible only from the sea, is situated on a mile-long, white coral-sand beach on the picturesque North Sound, making it an ideal location for an introduction to sailing. Bitter End caters for beginners and experienced sailors and the friendly staff will ensure you have a safe and enjoyable sail. With an inprecedented Club fleet of over 100 sailboats, kayaks and windsurfers and small motor boats, over 15 weekly excursions, a world renowned Sailing School, on-site dive shop and kiteboarding shop, Bitter End can offer something for everyone. Guests have free use of boats including Optimists, Hobie Cats, Lasers, J24s, Rhodes 19s (similar to a Squib) and Boston Whalers (with outboards).
The excellent sailing school runs a range of courses (at extra cost) - an introduction to sailing, racing, cruising and board sailing, and a youth sailing programme. Scuba diving courses (at extra cost) are available and regular excursions are made to some superb reef dives, and the famous RMS Rhone wreck. There are also daily escorted snorkelling trips and regular blue water cruises to Anegada, The Baths and Norman Island.
For the more competitive there is a Laser regatta every Sunday morning while the Rhodes 19s are raced on Sunday afternoons. Each November there is an opportunity to race with Admiral's Cup & Olympic stars in the pro-am regatta. Previous invided skippers have included Harold Cudmore and Russel Coutts.
Ashore there is comfortable accomodation and a choice of bars and restaurants. The 89 hillside rooms or beachfront villas have private facilities and superb sea views. The Club represents excellent value for families and the family package provides a discounted children's room when travelling with 2 adults as well as use of all the facilities and boats. This excludes the costs for their meals, tax and service charge. Not recommended for those who have difficulty walking.
