Located on the Maxwell coast area at the southern end of Barbados, the Bougainvillea Beach resort is an excellent choice for couples and families seeking good quality self-catering accommodation. As its name suggests, the hotel is set in attractive grounds with beautiful landscaped gardens containing a wide variety of pretty tropical flowers, whilst at the front of the property there is a superb sandy beach.

Maxwell Coast is quieter than the west coast, but the lively St Lawrence's Gap, with an excellent range of shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife, is within easy reach by taxi, bus or on foot (about 15 minutes walk along the beach). The 138 suites and apartments are located in several three  and four storey buildings, without lifts. There are three swimming pools, a swim up bar, children's pool and waterfall. There are numerous free activities (see fact file) and in addition windsurfing, jetskiing, kite surfing, hobie cat and sunfish sailing, beauty salon, internet access and a children's club (weekdays  9.30am to 3pm) are all available at a local charge. An 18 hole golf course is available nearby.

Meals are served in the hotel's waterfront restaurant, Lanterns by the Sea and the new Buoni Amici Italian Restaurant which is open for dinner. There is a free weekly manager's cocktail party, followed by a Caribbean beach buffet and floorshow, for which there is a charge.
