Constructed in the 18th century as a sugar mill, the Jalousie estate has been converted into a luxury resort providing secluded accommodation for discerning couples and families. The hotel occupies a spectacular setting on the hillside above the bay between the Piton mountains. The 12 Sugar Mill rooms are located in a block near the Great House, whilst the 100 cottages are spread around the 325 acres of tropical grounds, many with spectacular views.
The resort has a total of 4 restaurants and 3 bars, some of which are located in the central former Great House, which also has a gift shop and reception. Alternatively relax by the poolside bar, which is located just behind the beach and offers a more informal restaurant. Jalousie pride themselves on serving only the freshest gourmet food.
Jalousie has an excellent spa and range of activities, both ashore and afloat. Whilst there is more than enough to keep a family occupied at the hotel, don’t miss a trip to the nearby sulphur springs at Soufriere, in the crater of a former volcano and a trip to the rainforest or plantations, perhaps followed by an evening drink or dinner watching the sunset through the Pitons, from Ladera, 1100 feet above sea level.
